What is Hispanic Heritage Month.

On September 17, 1968, the U.S. Government wanting to recognize the accomplishment of Hispanic American citizens created Public Law 90-498 National Hispanic Heritage Week.
The law was later amended by Public Law 100-402, expanding the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month on August 17, 1988, Therefore,each year, from September 15 to October 15, the United States of America honors the many contributions Hispanic Americans have made and continue to make daily in this New World. As for the dates of the celebration , five Latin American countries- Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras,and Nicaragua, all celebrate their independence anniversary on September 15. In addition, Mexico celebrates their independence anniversary on September 16 and Chile on the 18th. The law was later amended by Public Law 100-402 expanding the celebration to National Hispanic Heritage month.
