Hispanic Americans continue to be instrumental in establishing America as a place of freedom and opportunity.
Their hard work, love of the country, and their deep commitment to faith and family has contributed to shaping the character of our country and preserving the values of our nation.
Additionally, Hispanic Americans strive to keep their hispanic ancestry and rich heritage alive by passing it on from generation to generation.

What is Hispanic Heritage Month.
On September 17, 1968, the U.S. Government wanting to recognize the accomplishment of Hispanic American citizens created Public Law 90-498 National Hispanic Heritage Week.
The law was later amended by Public Law 100-402, expanding the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month on August 17, 1988, Therefore, each year, from September 15 to October 15, the United States of America honors the many contributions Hispanic Americans have made and continue to make daily in this New World. As for the dates of the celebration , five Latin American countries- Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, all celebrate their independence anniversary on September 15. In addition, Mexico celebrates their independence anniversary on September 16 and Chile on the 18th. The law was later amended by Public Law 100-402 expanding the celebration to National Hispanic Heritage month.click image to enlarge

West Shore is flinging open its doors in October to celebrate the Latino/Latina culture in the Greater Cleveland Area. This program speaks to two aspects of their mission. They want to inspire more people to lead lives of meaning and purpose through a nurturing, inclusive community, and they want to spread the news of Unitarian Universalism and their church.
The activities include an Art Show featuring Latino/a artists, a children's art show, guest speakers, a film, concerts, worship and a Day of the Dead celebration.

HOME SECURITY FAMILY
Gentrifying Area
This guest post from Lenny Mcknight
My husband and I bought a home in a gentrifying neighborhood in San Antonio. It’s just South of Downtown, and so conveniently located. It’s very artsy and cute, but not as safe as we would like it to be. That is probably the reason we were able to get our house for such a steal. It needs some work, but we love it. We know that in the next ten years it will get better, but for now we needed something to make us feel safe. We searched forTexas adt home security and got a home alarm system. Now we feel like we can enjoy all of the great things the neighborhood has to offer without being worried about our home. There is an awesome little Belgian restaurant down the street from our place that has the best mussels. The neighborhood also has an art festival every first Friday of the month. We also have a great outdoor neighborhood bar that we frequent. It’s too bad that there are still so many problems in the neighborhood because it’s really great.
